nothing beautiful can last

Welcome to The Field. (Page not found)

She walked up to a taxi, and the driver recognized the death in her. It is always sad to see a dead person so young. He tried to get conversation out of her, to help her feel less scared until she got tho the field of the fallen, but she didn’t say a word. When she got there, while she walked up to her pedestal, the other dead people looked at her, wondering what she did or what happened to her.

People did come to visit her, though. At first she didn’t talk to them, but with time she grew used to the strange faces – and some familiar ones too. And she talked to them about the people who spent her life trying to kill her. It’s only because of this that she knew of Mother, and how she in her almighty tyranny placed her in a world that she knew would do this to her.

It was an ampersandine day of rejoice. The living were celebrating with music and food, carelessly shooting at all the drones from the heavens, and the chatter of the dead could be heard from any distance, as they all shared experiences and feelings with each other.

It is then when she realized that her war was not over yet.

She tried to put her hand on the limit of the pedestal, where invisible forces separated her from the living, and her hand went through. She sit on its edge, and seeing that nothing happened, she stepped down from it.

And just as she walked in, she decided to walk out.
